Italian Brass Week and Palazzo Gondi
The International Festival 'Italian Brass Week' is now in its 22nd edition and was held in Florence, from 1 to 8 August 2021. It is directed by Maestro Luca Benucci, first horn of the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, teacher at the Fondazione Scuola di Musica di Fiesole onlus and at the Conservatorio di Musica 'Claudio Monteverdi' in Bolzano.
On 5 August, Palazzo Gondi hosted the Festival's Main Event, the world premiere entitled "Nata da foglie e brina. Moss. Vento del bosco" from Canto I of Inferno, composed by Maestro Arnaldo De Felice, on texts by Francesca Andreini. "Nata da foglie e brina. Musk. Vento del bosco" for soprano and brass ensemble is a tribute to Dante Alighieri and to theIncipit of the Divine Comedy. Inspired by a prose piece on the figure of the Lonza by Francesca Andreini, the composition takes up the tension between the human being (Dante) and the animal, the symbol of nature and instinct, the primordial force from which man tries in vain to escape. The music expresses much of the text, while the soprano's voice outlines its most expressive and dramatically salient features.
